When to use this tool

Typed PDFs: Excellent results. Text, paragraphs, and basic structure transfer cleanly.

PDFs with simple tables: Tables are converted as positioned text. Good for review/edit, may need re-formatting for presentation.

Scanned PDFs: Use the OCR tool first to extract text, then convert. Direct PDF-to-Word on scans only captures layout, not text content.

Heavy graphic design: Layouts with complex columns, callouts, or design elements will lose visual fidelity, the tool prioritises text content over design.

Why convert with SnapaPdf?

Confidential documents stay private. Lawyers, accountants, HR teams, process contracts and personal documents without uploading them anywhere.

No daily limit. Other free PDF-to-Word converters cap you at 1-2 conversions per day to push you to a €9/mo subscription. We don't.

No file size cap. Convert 200-page reports as easily as a 1-page form.

Open output. The .docx is standard, opens in Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice, Pages.

FAQ

Will the formatting transfer perfectly?

For typed text, yes. For complex layouts (multi-column magazines, design-heavy PDFs), the result is editable but may need cleanup. PDF-to-Word is fundamentally lossy, even paid tools don't perfectly preserve all PDFs.

Can I convert scanned PDFs?

Use the OCR tool first to extract text, save as a new PDF, then convert. Or use OCR directly to get .txt output and import into Word.

Are images preserved?

Embedded images are not transferred to the .docx output in this version. For document review where layout matters, use PDF-to-images instead.

What if my PDF is password-protected?

Use Unlock PDF first (you must know the password), then convert.

Is there a quality difference vs paid tools?

For typed PDFs: comparable. For scanned/complex layouts: paid tools (Adobe, ABBYY) often do better because they have larger ML models. We're transparent about it, try the free version first.
